Over the past few years we’ve learned a lot about effective housing for goats, combining traditional concepts with modern materials and construction. We’ll build well-ventilated kholas with burnt mud bricks, thus cutting down drastically on the need for wood, - deforestation is becoming a real problem - and the inevitable termite damage. To keep our goats in tip-top condition for maximum milk yield we need to have dedicated pastureland, both for grazing and cropping. To maintain a controlled breeding programme it’s essential that our goats are securely grazed and not at risk of unplanned mating. Fields will be planted with the correct nutrients for a healthy balanced diet, and we’ll pack the sites with trees - both for fruit and fuel, as water availability allows.
We are outgrowing our current rented sites, and need to consider buying our own land, building according to OHP’s specific requirements and long-term plans.
The programme will include:
• Offices
• Warehouse and Storerooms
• Goat Kholas (goat houses) and Paddocks
• Land for cropping and pasture
• A House for visitors
One of the prospective sites under consideration - 3.5 acres of well situated land, close to water & power

When land is purchased, the development will probably take place over the next couple of years, utilizing materials - bricks, tin roofing, fencing - from our present sites where possible.
