In Malawi, out in the remote areas, there’s evidence of hunger, acute poverty and malnutrition, etched into every face. The orphan situation is in crisis, mainly, it seems, due to HIV/AIDS. A large percentage of the nurturing, caring, providing generation has been wiped out, leaving many frail grannies caring for whole families of orphans without resources. Healthcare is minimal, education limited and food often scarce.
